Don't Write off Burrito Gallery after a Week

This week we are seeing a lot of storefronts open downtown. There are all sorts of commerce and activity. The only problem is that once the smoke clears from the end-of-the-game fireworks, most of these stores will be closed and gone.

The good news is at least one downtown restaurant that opened this week plans to stick around. Burrito Gallery, 21 E. Adams St., across the street from the library, is serving a smallish menu this week -- burritos, tacos and soup -- just to handle the crowds that will be on the streets. Later, they'll expand the menu for the local folks.

Besides the Latin flavors, Burrito Gallery has a full liquor license and has a cute bar tucked in the back. There's also a hidden patio dining area that will be perfect in a couple of weeks.

I'm encouraging downtown workers to give this place a look. As the name implies, it features original artwork. Taking in a little art can't hurt anybody. …
