Course: La Costa Resort and Spa (par-72, 7,247 yards, architect, Dick Wilson).

Purse: $7.5 million.

First place: $1.3 million.

TV: ESPN (Thursday, 2-6 p.m.; Friday 1:30-6 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.); ESPN2 (Friday 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.); ABC (Saturday, 3-7 p.m.; Sunday, 2-6 p.m.).

Field: The top 64 available players on the World Golf Rankings (World No. 2 Ernie Els is not playing). The top bracket seeds are Vijay Singh of Ponte Vedra Beach, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Retief Goosen. Other area players entered -- Jim Furyk and Fred Funk of Ponte Vedra; Davis Love III of St. Simons Island.

Last year: Woods beat Love 3 and 2 in the finals.

Notable: Woods is going for his 10th World Golf Championship victory.

TV: USA (Thursday-Friday, 6-8 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 11 p.m.-1 a.m.).

Field: Headliners -- Defending champion Heath Slocum, Aaron Baddeley, Jose-Maria Olazabal, Rich Beem, Mark Calcavecchia, Mark Brooks, John Cook, Hunter Haas, Kevin Stadler, Hank Kuehne. Area players entered -- David Duval and Blaine McCallister of Jacksonville; Gabriel Hjertstedt of Atlantic Beach; Paul Claxton of St. Simons Island, Michael Long and Matt Kuchar of Ponte Vedra Beach.

Last year: Slocum defeated Baddeley by one shot.

Notable: Jacksonville native David Duval is entered for the first time since he won the tournament in 1998.

Last week: Adam Scott defeated Chad Campbell on the first playoff hole to win the Nissan Open. Because the tournament was only 36 holes, the victory is not official.

Next week: Ford Championship at Doral, Miami.
