THE KILBURN

County Kilburn, as it is known locally, is the place for a crawl on St Patrick's Day. There's the Black Lion, the Brondes Age and Father Ted's, and the recently refurbished Kilburn has been born out of a massive refurbishment of what was a part of McGoverns pub. This new site is a contemporary DJbar and restaurant designed to appeal to a new generation of County Kilburn drinkers.

THE PORTERHOUSE

It started in Bray, County Wicklow in 1989. Dublin got one in Temple Bar back in 1996. And today, its flagship operation is up-and-running in the heart of Covent Garden. This is 13,500 square feet of craic fest with one huge space galleried into several levels and overlooking the main bar. Twelve unpasteurised beers (ales, porters and stouts) are on tap, all brewed in Dublin and shipped to London.

This used to be known as O'Hanlon's, the pub which stocked the eponymous beers and stouts. …
