Volunteers are taking the Holgate Wall restoration project into its final stage.

Students from the Prince's Trust, based at Stockton Riverside College and the Langridge Centre in Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough, have been busy painting the base coat on the wall that once stood proudly around Boro's former Ayresome Park home.

Once that is completed, art and design students from the college will paint a mural depicting ex-Boro stars.

The 12 Prince's Trust students took on the project as their team challenge for their 12-week course after being approached by the project organiser, Neil Wheldon.

It involved fundraising for the paint and rollers and then carrying out the task.

Kelly Henderson, a Prince's Trust team leader, said: "This is not something we generally do for the team challenge. It is more likely to be a day out with people they would not normally meet.

"I thought this was a really worthwhile thing to do and something we could do. …
