Shay Given aims to wipe out the memory of his worst day of the season when Aston Villa come to St James' Park tomorrow, (writes Alan Oliver).

The Newcastle United goalkeeper picked the ball out of the back of his net on four occasions at Villa Park, was booked by referee Mike Riley and booed by the home fans behind his goal during the match there on August 28 last year.

But he still fared far better than Sir Bobby Robson, with the 4-2 defeat by Villa being his last game in charge of United.

No wonder Given told me today: "That was a bad day at the office as no keeper wants to concede four goals in any match.

"And as far as my yellow card was concerned, I'm afraid I lost it a bit, but these things happen in football. But the most important thing tomorrow is not putting the record straight or any revenge but the three points.

"We were disappointed about not winning at Portsmouth but let's not forget that we are still unbeaten in 12 matches and we want to keep that run going. …
