Lower Church sent salmon successes higher when Darlington angler John Lee caught an excellent 12lb fish on fly as Bywell Syndicate's total bag moved on to 42.

John Little of Kirk Merrington caught a 10lb sea-liced salmon at Upper Broomhaugh, while Bill Rutherford, of Whitley Bay, caught an excellent 18lb fish on a spinner, and George Pead of Whickham landed a 10lb salmon at Meg's Mill.

Colin Wilkinson caught a 19lb salmon also from Meg's Mill, while Michael Dickens took a 16lber using a spinner and John Wittey landed a 20lb salmon at Beeches.

At Chester on the North Tyne, George Benson landed two salmon on fly weighing in at 9lb and 8lb. The pair were caught at the Boat Pool and Pipeline.

Meanwhile, Barry Nicholls of Crawcrook landed salmon of 20lb and 8lb 8oz on a Green Highlander from the River Tyne at Farnley.

Leeds angler Stuart Rose landed a 20lb salmon and also one of 14lb on the same fly pattern and at the same spot at Farnley. …
