Kent Jones did some damage to the edge of the cup at the par-5 16th hole during the third round of The Players on Sunday, but he certainly didn't mean it.

He just hit that good a shot.

Jones used a utility wood to hit his second shot from 235 yards away at No. 16. The ball locked onto the target and landed less than an inch in front of the hole, actually pushing part of the cup's edge inward. The ball caromed 22 feet past the hole. Jones lagged the eagle-putt attempt to 4 feet and was unable to make the birdie attempt because the weather siren blew at that point. …
