Celebrity chef Sara Moulton will be at The Avenues mall from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9, as part of Simon Super Chefs Live in the lower level Dillard's Court at 10300 Southside Blvd.

Super Chefs Live is free and open to the public, and hosted by television host Bill Boggs. Live cooking performances will be presented by Moulton, host of Sara's Secrets on the Food Network, food editor for ABC's Good Morning America and chef of the executive dining room at Gourmet Magazine.

The event will also showcase cooking demonstrations by local chefs Corkey Bergamo of Chardonnay, Stacy Slott of The Metro Diner and Johnnie Jones of Genesis Cafe. Wine seminars, food and beverage sampling, sponsor pavilions, cookbook sales and culinary activities with area retailers and restaurants will be held.

The event ends with a Super Chefs Live Cookoff, when two local food fans selected from the audience will help the professionals during an on-stage cook-off.

Children can also participate in the Simon Kidgits Mini Chefs, design their own aprons and create a layered candy creation with different colored and flavored sugared candy.

JU MUSICAL REVUE TODAY

Jacksonville University will present a contemporary spring musical called Songs for a New World at 7:30 p.m. today at Endo Exo nightclub at 1224 Kings Ave. in San Marco.

The musical revue is based on an off-Broadway production written by composer/lyricist Jason Robert Brown. Eight students will perform a variety of contemporary songs ranging from gospel to rock, accompanied by piano, bass and drums.

The show is $10 for adults and $7 for seniors and non-JU students.

WRITING CONTEST FOR STUDENTS

Middle school students can enter the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts annual writing contest, sponsored by the school's Creative Writing Department. The categories are poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. …
