Photographer puts community on show

A talented photographer has taken inspiration from her surroundings to put together a new exhibition.

Louise Hepworth has lived in Byker, Newcastle, for the past six years and is so in love with the area she regularly takes pictures to capture its spirit.

Now the 26-year-old is displaying her work at Newcastle's Tyneside Cinema and says she is thrilled to have so much great material to work with.

Louise, of Beresford Gardens, said: "I always take a camera with me because I see so much which grabs my attention.

"It can often take me an hour to go to the shop and come back with a pint of milk because I keep stopping.

"It's got such a rich history and sense of community.

"The people are so welcoming.

"I can look out of my window and see the river and the bridges, and you can also see out to the countryside.

"I think it's amazing."

After taking up photography 10 years ago through a community project, Louise snapped up the title of Comic Relief Colour Photographer of the Year in 1999. …
