Two brothers won more than pounds 550,000 with a pounds 10 stake in a nerve-racking season-long bet, it emerged yesterday.

Lee and Myles McNulty, from Tynemouth and Seghill beat thousands of fellow punters from across the world in the Fantasy Football-style bet run by the Tote.

They selected 10 horses from around 1,000 choices and followed their progress throughout the National Hunt season.

They finally learnt of their pounds 554,305 win at 6pm after the Grand National on Saturday.

Lee, 35, said: "It was a nightmare for the last three weeks. We never ate or slept."
