An event has been held to encourage more young people to study science. Centre for Process Innovation, based at Wilton, was one of the exhibitors at the event held at RTC North in Sunderland. It focused on science education and industrial engagement.

Caring duo

TWO North-east utility companies have made it into the line-up of top companies that care. Northumbrian Water and CE Electric have been ranked in the top 30 of UK companies for responsible business practice, as benchmarked by the prestigious Corporate Responsibility Index now in its third year. The firms took part in the Business in the Community initiative.

Deal probed

A pounds 96.5m deal to create the UK's third-largest consumer magazines group has been referred to the Competition Commission by the Office of Fair Trading. Bath-based Future, which publishes more than 100 special interest consumer magazines, is seeking to take over rival Highbury House Communications.

Games boost

THE games division of Zoo Digital Group has secured the rights to publish a portfolio of 22 games from Destination Software - a move that is expected to deliver around pounds 3m in additional revenues over the next two years. …
