GASTON GAUDIO saved a match point before racing through the last set in 16 minutes to beat Czech opponent Jan Hernych 6-7, 7-5, 6-0 in the first round of the Estoril Open.

"There were two Gastons out there, a bad one and a good one," said the No2 seed from Argentina.

Gaudio now faces Michal Tabara, who beat Czech compatriot Tomas Berdych 1-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Open still worth a cool [pounds sterling]4million

PRIZE money at this year's Open at St Andrews will again be [pounds sterling]4million. With no increases on last summer's purse, the winner will again receive [pounds sterling]720,000.
