Sport on the Tyne has been good with large numbers of fish seen moving upstream.

Bywell Syndicate has seen some fine sport and their total number of salmon caught has moved on to 86 fish.

Among the catches was John Little of Kirk Merrington with four salmon to 14lb on fly at Broomhaugh, while Ian Henderson of Corbridge had one of 12lb on fly and George Nicholson of Wallsend landed one of 10lb.

Ina Shuttleworth from Stanhope caught fish of 6lb and 17lb on fly, while Brian Hankin of Bishop Auckland caught two fish on fly weighing 11lb and 18lb. Tim Ruddenham from Norfolk had his first salmon on fly weighing 101b. A large number of other fish were caught further upstream in the Corbridge area. Stuart Rose of Leeds landed salmon of 8lb, 9lb, 18lb and then followed these with a 20lb salmon, all on fly. Barry Nicholls from Crawcrook had a nice 12lb salmon on a Green Highlander variant.

Out on NERTAC Waters, Colin Pearson from Ashington landed two salmon of 15lb on fly at Widehaugh on Orange Shrimp patterns. …
