Newcastle five piece Yourcodenameis: milo have made a well-charted jump from local band obscurity to award-winning darlings of the music scene. From gigging at Newcastle's Head of Steam to supporting Muse in only 20 gigs, the story so far is surely the stuff of legends.

They've certainly taken great strides down rock's yellow brick road in the past 12 months. The rough and ready sound of their Steve Albini-produced debut EP, launched so memorably at the Cluny last May, has given way to a harder, tighter edge. Their time spent with production demi-god Flood has turned Milo into one of the most interesting bands of recent months.

YCNI:M's debut long player Ignoto was met with a cavalcade of top marks and with a new album comes the obligatory tour.

Milo's tour bus made a pit stop in their hometown in April. Riding shotgun with YCNI:M were Bristol sextet and Bowie wannabes The Fallout Trust, alongside Pittsburgh proto punks Modey Lemon. …
