Police arrested a St. Johns County woman Wednesday after they said she fired a shotgun at a mobile home where another woman and her children were hiding in a closet.

According to a police report, the victim told St. Johns County Sheriff's Office deputies that a woman who was intoxicated arrived at her residence and she asked her to leave. The victim said the visitor became angry and retrieved a shotgun from her vehicle and began to scream, according to the report.

The visitor then fired one shot into the mobile home, which struck the kitchen ceiling, the report said. Police arrested Coretha Maria Bryant, 36, of 4760 Avenue B, and charged her with shooting into an occupied dwelling, culpable negligence, and using a firearm under the influence. Bryant was booked into the county jail.


2200 block of Remington Park Road: Police questioned two boys, ages 15 and 17, in a burglary and vandalism incident at an abandoned home Tuesday.

A St. Johns County Sheriff's deputy reported he heard glass breaking in the rear of a house and saw two boys leaving the area. Another deputy stopped the boys as they emerged from the woods on Florida 13, a police report said.

Police located 35 broken windowpanes to three structures on the property and a can of paint in the living room. The two juveniles were released to a parent. The report stated the investigation is continuing to determine the owner of the property.


700 block of Community Road: Police arrested a St. Johns County man and charged him with burglary to an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief Sunday.

According to a police report, deputies responded to a call from a man who said another man drove up to the victim's property and backed over the front yard fence several times before kicking open the victim's front door. The victim ran out a back door and called the Sheriff's Office, the report said.

Police arrested Kenley Amory Hunt, 36, of 786 Community Road, and booked him into the county jail.
