My Favourite Capital Haunts; Gordon Ramsay Likes a Pint at the Cod, Milk Shakes and Trysts at Ronnie Scott's
While it's not my local, my favourite pub is The Admiral Codrington (17 Mossop Street, SW3, 0871 332 4123) in Chelsea, set up by my friend, Joel Cadbury.
Either The Cod, as it is affectionately known, or The Blue Bar at The Berkeley (Wilton Place, SW1, 0871 332 2978) are great places to go and enjoy a glass of wine or a pint. I do enjoy cocktails though, and the bar above Pengelley's (164 Sloane Street, SW1, 020-7750 5000) has an amazing list of Bloody Mary's and they do a great lime-infused sake and champagne cocktail.
I'm looking forward to creating an equally varied list at my new restaurant, Maze, which opens next month in Grosvenor Square (020-7107 0000).
I often take my children to the Boxwood Cafe (The Berkeley, Wilton Place, SW1, 020-7235 1010) where the head chef, Stuart Gillies, will spoil them with gourmet burgers and chips, or The Hard Rock Cafe (150 Old Park Lane, W1, 020-7629 0382) for great milk shakes.
Afterwards we might take a wander round the Natural History Museum on Cromwell Road (020-7942 5011), it's a great place that inspires silence in the kids as they gaze on giant prehistoric skeletons. …
