The People's Palace, Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, SE1 Last week Steve, 35, a sports journalist from Surrey, chose Shona, 36, a paediatric nurse from Southampton Why: I liked her dark hair and her love of children.

Steve says: I was very pleased when I saw Shona. She was wonderful company, attractive and we got on famously.

I was glad she wasn't really into sport, so we wouldn't have to spend all our time talking about it. We chatted about everything: our jobs, holidays, how we got to where we are now. He asked for my number, which is surely a good sign. At the end of the night Steve took me to the station.

I enjoyed the date and I hope to see him again.

But I still like a big night out once in a while as I love getting glammed up and going dancing - I love house music. …
