A COUPLE paid an [pounds sterling]800 ransom to dognappers who stole their beloved pet. When thieves took Charlie the chihuahua from the car of Amy and Mike Cooper, from Oxford, the couple put up reward posters offering [pounds sterling]750. Becoming desperate, they raised the reward.

They met two men wearing "hoodies" in the darkness of a car park for the exchange and were reunited with their pet.

THE EXPRESS

TEACHERS had the last laugh when pupils threatened to wreak havoc on the last day of term at Walkden High School in Manchester. The 16-year-olds went home on Friday expecting to return on Monday. But their parents received a letter on the Saturday telling them Friday had been the last day. Teachers were trying to prevent a repeat of three years ago when pupils covered a park in flour and eggs.
