New Cap Kelly Can Forget All His Fears

New Scotland international Kelly Brown admits he thought his debut for the national side would end in disaster.

The Borders back row forward was left stunned as Romania raced into a 10-0 lead over the Scots in Bucharest on Sunday.

But, under the leadership of interim head coach Frank Hadden, the team rallied to claim a 39-19 win.

Edinburgh Gunners coach Hadden will discover whether successive wins over The Barbarians and Romania are enough to land him the job on a permanent basis at the end of the month.

However, Brown was simply delighted to earn a win in his first appearance, which included his own try in the closing stages.

Brown said: "It was a pretty poor start to my first cap, but the way we came back was excellent. We stretched them by playing wide and then we wore them down.

"It was great to get my try, however, the truth is that it was a score for the whole pack."

The Scottish Rugby Union have confirmed they will not make a decision on Hadden and the Scotland vacancy until the end of the month when the Edinburgh coach returns from holiday in Corfu. …
