AUDLEY HARRISON hauled his heavyweight boxing career back on track today when he stopped American journeyman Robert Davis in the seventh round of their fight at a casino in Temecula, just south of Los Angeles.

It was Harrison's first bout for a year, the 2000 Olympic gold medallist having undergone surgery on a finger injury after recording his 17th career win against Tomasz Bonin at Alexandra Palace last June.

But he quickly brushed the cobwebs away by dropping Davis in the first round. Davis, winner of 31 of his 37 fights, has gone the distance with former world champion Michael Moorer and proved his durability by climbing from the canvas, but Harrison continued to land the bigger punches, with his left hook scoring comfortably.

The end came 2min 21sec into the seventh round when Harrison unleashed his full arsenal and the referee was forced to step in.

It was the 33-year-old Londoner's 13th win by way of stoppage and afterwards he said: "I'm just glad to be back. …
