Police are looking for a man who grabbed a purse from a 23-year-old woman Sunday morning outside The Avenues mall at 10300 Southside Blvd. and fled with another man in a purple Honda Accord.

The strong-arm robbery left the 23-year-old victim nursing a scraped wrist after she was pulled down when the thief refused to let go of the purse as she held on. Her credit cards, a checkbook and driver's license were stolen, police said.

The woman had just parked outside a restaurant at the mall at 10 a.m. when a man in shorts and a T-shirt ran up from behind and grabbed her purse strap, police said. The woman held on, but the man pulled her down as the strap broke. He jumped into the Honda and drove off.

Police conducted an air and ground search for the car but it wasn't found. Another woman gave police a better description of the car and the two men inside after she reported parking next to it a few minutes before the robbery, then locking her purse in the trunk when they flirted with her.

Another strong-arm robbery occurred at 9:27 p.m. the same day outside the Regal Cinemas nearby at 9525 Philips Highway, when a man snatched a woman's purse and fled in a green Buick with two other men, police said.

The woman agreed to meet the man at the theater, and was answering a cellular telephone call when he grabbed her purse and ran for the car, police said. The woman grabbed the car door as it pulled away, getting scratches on her back as she fell. Two cellular telephones, cash, two gold necklaces and a driver's license were stolen, police said.

Following are the crimes and other incidents reported recently on the Southside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office:
