The winners of the awards scheme which aims to find the North-East's entrepreneurs of the future will be announced tonight.

An impressive line-up of sponsors are backing the Young Enterprise North-East Awards.

And the final ( when the judges will announce the winners ( will be held at Gosforth Park's Marriott Hotel, Newcastle.

Aspire, the North-East Chamber of Commerce, Connexions, Northumbrian Water, BT and Alcan are each backing a prize.

More than 400 people are to attend the event, which is supported by Newcastle Chronicle & Journal, for the contest of four teams ( from Westfield School, Newcastle; St Benet Biscop RC School, Bedlington, Northumberland; English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College, Hartlepool; and St Leonard's RC School in Durham.

The winning school will represent the region in the national finals of the awards at the Savoy Hotel in London next month.

A spokeswoman for Aspire, the North-East campaign which encourages youngsters to stay and work in the region, explained why the organisation was sponsoring the Company of the Year award. …
