teesside increased their lead at the top of the table to nine points over nearest rivals Darlington after a convincing 19-5 away victory at The Wynyard Club, venue for this year's Seve Trophy.

The scene was set in the top six matches following victories for Darren Rayner, Russell Allen, Chris Crellin and Mark Waine, with Simon Wrigglesworth and Rory Gill halving with Steven Raby and Mike Beattie respectively.

This sealed the scratch section 10-2 for the upbeat visitors.

Overall victory was assured when only Lee Norman failed to score points in the handicap games, Peter Bryant and Mike Fenwick scoring the points for the Wynyard Club.

Richmond are not out of the Division Two race by any means although a disappointing 17-7 loss at local rivals Darlington will heighten the pressure on them to keep in touch with the leaders.

A resounding 11-1 win in the scratch games was Darlington's platform for the overall result with Geoff Charlton's half being the only point dropped for the home side. …
