Simon Inness, a highly experienced investment manager at leading North East firm Wise Speke, has been promoted to assistant director.

Simon joined the team at company in 1998, having gained 14 years experience in the investment management sector. Simon said: "I started my career in London in 1986 at Gartmore, before progressing to broker at Ord Minnett.

"After 18 months, I then took on a position at Capel Cure Myers as Equity Analyst. In 1992, I made the decision to go to Durham to study an MBA at the university. This was an important move for me as it brought me back to the North where I grew up."

After graduating, Simon moved north of the border to Edinburgh, where he continued to progress in the business world, before being offered a position at Wise Speke in 1998.

In his new role of assistant director, Simon will also manage portfolios and develop new investment ideas.

Simon said: "I'm incredibly fortunate to be in a job where I constantly feel mentally stimulated and am able to use my own experience and initiative to create new ideas within investment management. …
