A top Teesside nightclub is undergoing a pounds 35,000 refurbishment after changing hands for pounds 3m.

The upgrade at Hush is part of new owner Vimac Leisure's development of the popular town centre venue.

Property developer Rashad Hameed bought the 100-year-old derelict building three years ago and brought it back to life as one of the region's top leisure venues before selling to Vimac Leisure, of Wearside, in May.

An upgraded, cutting-edge sound system, new colour scheme and custom-made murals for the club's walls are all on the agenda.

Voiles are also being added to the club's floor-to-ceiling windows, to help create a darker, more intimate atmosphere, using a combination of real and ambient lighting.

Hush general manager Neil Winterbottom said: "Hush is already a hugely successful and impressive venue, but we felt making these subtle changes would make it even more attractive to clubbers.

"The fresh, modern look we're creating will enhance what we offer our customers and the murals we've commissioned will certainly get them talking. …
