Windermere Hydro has stepped in as sponsor for the Lakes Classic on September 10-11 following the decision by Rayrigg Motors to step down after 20 years backing the North Region PGA event. A new innovation for the 36-hole pro-am will be a formal dinner on the Saturday night at the Hydro with comedian Norman Prince. Windermere professional Steve Rooke said: "The event has always proved hugely popular and apart from attracting many European Tour players, such as Derrick Cooper and Gordon Brand, there's been a top class amateur field. THE Delaval Arms Golf Society have presented a cheque for pounds 6,621 to Linda Squires from the Rainbow Trust Children's Charity. Formed just three years ago, this is the second charity day they have organised an they have raised more than pounds 11,500.

TIM Jenkins is on the move after nine years as professional at Romanby. He's moving his operations to Ingelby Barwick on Teesside.
