Acting on a tip from an anonymous caller, Clay County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a Middleburg man wanted on home invasion robbery charges.

Daniel W. Ellison Jr., 26, was arrested Friday on a warrant. He is accused of entering a house at Blueberry Bay Court in Middleburg and telling a boarder there he'd "have his head blown off" if he left his room, an investigating officer wrote in his report. The man told the officer he knew Ellison.

Ellison is suspected of taking a shotgun, a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol, as well as $350 in new clothes and a car stereo from the home. He was being held on $100,003 bond.

CAR HAD BEEN REPORTED STOLEN

When a car headed south on U.S. 17 made a sudden turn onto Stiles Avenue, an Orange Park police officer thought something was up.

When the patrolman ran a check of the vehicle, he learned it was reported stolen from a Jacksonville resident. The driver took the car down San Robar Avenue and onto Morgan Circle, and was stopped at San Robar and Plainfield Avenue, blocked in by the officer's car in the rear and another officer's car in the front, a police report said. …
