Twisted Mohammed Ishtiaq was jailed for eight years after raping a disabled woman in her home as her children slept.

The 32-year-old restaurant worker forced himself on his terrified victim after turning up at her house in the early hours of the morning.

At Newcastle Crown Court he was convicted of raping the 43-year-old, who has a catalogue of serious medical complaints, in her family home in the city.

The widow was alone with her children at the time of the attack in January, when Ishtiaq, of Hampstead Road, Benwell, Newcastle, tricked his way into her home and raped her.

Jailing him for eight years, Judge Esmond Faulks told him: "The aggravating features are you tricked your way into the house, where the offence was committed, which means she may never feel safe in her home again.

"Because of these aggravating features the sentence will be longer than is standard." Ishtiaq was locked up for eight years and must serve at least half of that. …
