GRADUATES

Jacob Myers of the Westside has earned a master's degree in divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey.

Douglas Ullman Jr. of the Southside graduated from New York University's Steinhardt School of Education as a 2005 Founders Day Scholar. Founders Day Scholars are graduating seniors who have accumulated a 3.5 grade point average or higher.

Cecile Evans of the Southside graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts as a 2005 Founders Day Scholar. Founders Day Scholars are graduating seniors who have accumulated a 3.5 grade point average or higher.

HONORS AND AWARDS

Amanda Davis received a $1,000 grant through The Comcast Foundation's Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. Students are chosen to receive the grant based on exemplary community service, leadership skills, positive attitude and academic achievement.

Davis, a 2005 graduate of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, plans to attend the University of Georgia this fall. She is the daughter of Tammy Davis of Arlington.

Victoria Lynn Hudson of Mandarin has been named to the President's List for the spring semester at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. To qualify for the honor, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or better on a 4.0 scale and carry at least 12 hours of letter-graded courses.

The Jacksonville Children's Commission and the Family Child Care Association of Jacksonville have received awards from the Florida Family Child Care Home Association. The commission was recognized as an outstanding advocate, while the association was honored as an outstanding local association.

Several local residents also were recognized. Diane Brown, president of the Family Child Care Association of Jacksonville, presented awards to association members:

Helen Hardy for the provider hall of fame and the heart award.

Kristie Gover of Arlington has been chosen as Jacksonville University's Employee of the Month for July. …
