Chief launches scheme

It's what every worker dreams about ( a chance to moan at the boss.

Executives at Your Homes Newcastle are placing themselves in the firing line in a new job swap scheme.

They are going on the shop floor where they will listen to what staff and their tenants have to say.

Chief executive John Lee launched the scheme by working for a day delivering furniture to needy people.

He also plans to work in a property shop and a community housing office.

Other managers will take jobs as caretakers, accompany mobile wardens in the community care alarm service, and deal with housing inquiries.

Your Homes Newcastle manages the city's 32,000 council houses and as chief executive, Mr Lee is responsible for a pounds 500m modernisation programme and 500 staff.

With the help of staff he made deliveries and talked to tenants as he hauled furniture around on his first day taking part in the scheme.
