An australian man who was so successful at hiding his runaway teenage girlfriend for five years that a man was charged with her murder, has been sentenced to a year in prison for lying to police.

Scott Angus Black, 28, had pleaded guilty in a Queensland court to perjury for telling police he didn't know where his girlfriend Natasha Ryan was when she was living in his home.

Ryan, now the 21-year-old mother of Black's one-year-old son, ran away from her parents' home in 1998 when she was 14 and hid at Black's home.

A CHINESE court has ordered the death sentence for two men convicted of heading gangs that bought 82 children from their parents and sold them to families in Singapore.

According to reports in state-run newspapers, the gangs paid between pounds 340 to pounds 990 for the children, who were "ordered" by Chinese families in Singapore and smuggled into the city-state on tourist visas.
