TOTTENHAM today sold striker Fredi Kanoute to Sevilla for [pounds sterling]4.4million.

The Mali international has agreed a four-year deal with the Primera Liga club, who recently sold striker Julio Baptista to Real Madrid.

Kanoute becomes Sevilla's second major arrival in less than a week following the loan signing of Barcelona forward Javier Saviola.

The 27-year-old scored 14 goals in 59 appearances for Spurs and will be officially unveiled at a news conference tomorrow, subject to him successfully completing a medical.

Kanoute joined Spurs from West Ham for [pounds sterling]3.5m in 2003 and Hammers manager Alan Pardew had considered a bid to bring him back to Upton Park this season.

However, Pardew ditched that plan when it became clear to him that West Ham fans did not want Kanoute to return to their club.

Kanoute had become the fourthchoice striker at Spurs and he said earlier this week that he was sure that the club would try to sell him before the transfer window closed at the end of this month. …
