Majestic Missile All Set for Winning Run

ENGLAND expects every man to do his duty when Michael Vaughan and his merry band try to clinch the Ashes this weekend.

You can bet your bottom dollar that a large chunk of the Doncaster crowd will have one eye on the Oval tomorrow, but one of racing's more talented cricketers can steal the headlines on day two of the Leger meeting when Majestic Missile (nap) goes head-to-head with some good sprinters in the Earth Mortgages Scarbrough Stakes (2.10).

Trainer William Haggas is the man in question. The smiling Yorkshireman once declared on 89 not out while captaining Harrow in a two-day match at Lord's only to find his opposite number on the Eton side content to play out time for a draw.

But outright victory is the target on Town Moor tomorrow, and Haggas has every right to feel Majestic Missile can go very close indeed.

Granted, this four-year-old hasn't won for almost two years and one or two critics have hinted that, like the Aussie batsmen, he sometimes flatters to deceive. …
