Last meeting: Georgia Tech beat Auburn 17-3 in 2003.

Story line: Under fourth-year head coach Chan Gailey, Tech has a string of eight consecutive winning seasons and eight consecutive bowl games, including a 7-5 mark in 2004, capped by a 51-14 victory over Syracuse in the Champs Sports Bowl. The Tigers carry a 15-game winning streak into the contest, including a perfect 13-0 season in 2004. The Yellow Jackets were the last non-Southeastern Conference team to beat Auburn, knocking off the then-No. 17th Tigers in Atlanta in the second game of the 2003 season. The win prompted Tech's students to storm the field and tear down the goalposts.

Story line: The Bulldogs could have started the season with a low-level Division I patsy, but instead decided to host one of the better teams that few people outside of the Northwest know about. But people should know about the Broncos. Boise State, the team that plays its home games on the blue field, has the highest scoring offense in the 2000s, averaging 43.3 points. And though a Broncos win would be an upset, it might not be as big an upset as some would think. In past three seasons, Boise State has finished in the top 15 in both the coaches' and media poll and returns 17 starters this season.
