Grandmother Wendy Shaw never normally enters competitions.

So she was bowled over yesterday when she heard she was the fifth person to scoop pounds 500 of Marks & Spencer vouchers with The Journal.

It is the only time the grandmother-of-two has tried her hand at a competition ( and it was first-time lucky.

Retired Mrs Shaw, 68, of Havant Gardens, Wideopen, said: "I never enter competitions. I don't know why I did this time, but I just thought I'd give it a go and ring in and I was bowled over when I heard I won.

"Some people make a habit of entering competitions, but I so rarely win anything that I never bother.

"So it was just lovely to hear I'd won."

Mrs Shaw, who is married to John, 67, was so surprised at her win that she had not decided what she was going to spend the vouchers on. …
