A raider shot a man with a sawn-off shotgun to steal his van full of tools.

Graham Oselton, 37, from County Durham, lay on the ground for up to an hour outside his works ( unable to reach a phone after the masked raider shot him in his heel.

He was eventually found by his son, Martin, outside the factory unit where they both work on the Hobson Industrial Estate, Burnopfield, County Durham.

Mr Oselton, who runs a franchise supplying tools and lives at Hazel Grove, Burnopfield, was last night recovering in the University Hospital of North Durham.

As revealed in later editions of last night's Chronicle, the attacker made off with his van containing pounds 30,000 of professional quality tools yesterday morning. It was later found empty and had been set on fire.

Police said last night Mr Oselton had been attacked as he opened up the premises ( which also contain his 20-year-old son's car exhaust business.

His attacker, who was wearing a ski mask, demanded the keys to the van and when Mr Oselton said he did not have them, the man took out the gun and fired at his foot. …
