Del Horno puts Liverpool comeback in his diary

ASIER DEL HORNO expects to make his Chelsea comeback against Liverpool in the Champions League next Wednesday, writes Leo Spall.

The defender has missed the last two games with a thigh injury. He unlikely to be ready play against Aston Villa on Saturday, but Jose Mourinho is set to slot him back into the side for their biggest game of the season so far.

Del Horno said: "That is the date we have pencilled into the diary."

Carrick ankle injury adds to the gloom at Tottenham

MICHAEL CARRICK is expected to be out for two weeks after injuring his ankle in Tottenham's shock Carling Cup defeat against Grimsby Town.

The midfielder fell awkwardly when trying to clear the ball at Blundell Park on Tuesday and coach Martin Jol said today: "Michael twisted his ankle in a bad way. He's recovering but it will take a couple of weeks."

Edgar Davids could return from injury against Fulham on Monday. …
