Detectives are appealing for information on the whereabouts of off-road motorbikes used in a knifepoint robbery.

The motorbikes were stolen during a burglary at the Whitehouse Enterprise Centre in Newcastle and used in a robbery on September 22 where a delivery driver was robbed after something was thrown at his vehicle.

A 15-year-old youth has been charged with robbery in relation to the offence, but anyone with information about the incident has been asked to contact Det Sgt Sean McGuigan at Byker CID on (0191) 214-6555, ext 62226.

Rubbish amnesty

A RUBBISH amnesty on a South Tyneside estate has been hailed a resounding success after almost 13 tonnes of items were collected.

The vast majority of the rubbish, on the Horsley Hill Estate in South Shields, was furniture and white goods. It was handed in after people in the area were encouraged to use the opportunity of getting rid of unwanted bulky items.
