A proposal to tighten restrictions on weakfish -- known locally as yellowmouth trout -- will be the subject of a public workshop Friday, Oct. 14 in Atlantic Beach.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will host the workshop from 2-4 p.m. at Atlantic Beach City Hall, 800 Seminole Road.

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission is soliciting public input on its proposal to modify existing guidelines. FREE KIDS FISHING CLINIC

The Chevy/IGFA Kids Fishing Clinic will be held Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at C&H Lures, 13051 Beach Blvd.

The event is free and open to youngsters age 16 and younger who register in advance and are accompanied by an adult.

Parents can register their children online at igfa.org (click on the green Chevy/IGFA Kids Fishing Clinics heading) or by calling IGFA Junior Angler coordinator Peter Gaube at (954) 927-2628.

The clinics will be conducted by IGFA staff members and celebrities from the Chevrolet Sunshine Fishing Report on Sun Sports.

Participants who complete all four clinic stations will receive an IGFA Junior Angler Club membership and a rod, reel and tackle box. The four stations are ethics, equipment, knot-tying and casting.
