NUMBER OF THE WEEK

1

Schools in the SEC that haven't missed a field goal this season (Florida).

ON THE SPOT

Florida's offense has worked against bad teams, but hasn't against the SEC's better teams. Will it work against LSU?

FODDER

Sung: by country music legend Kenny Rogers, The Gambler. Rogers sang his hit single with the Tennessee band during halftime of last Saturday's game against Georgia. Considering the NCAA's stance on gambling, maybe that wasn't the wisest choice. Perhaps Lucille would have been better, especially in Knoxville.

Listed: on NFL 2005 opening-day rosters, 261 former SEC players, the most of any conference in the country. The ACC is next with 231, followed by the Big Ten (223), Pac-10 (188), Big 12 (176), Big East (88), Conference USA (71) and Mountain West (68).

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell completed 21-of-32 passes for two touchdowns and a career-high 285 yards in the Tigers' 34-6 win over Vanderbilt.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Florida at LSU, 3:30 p.m. (WTEV TV-47): Every Jacksonville city official should be a Florida fan tomorrow, because a Gators win will make the Saturday, Oct. 29, Florida-Georgia game as big as it has been in a long time. Florida has won three in a row in Baton Rouge -- including a 19-7 win in 2003 that was LSU's only loss of the season -- but comes in banged up at receiver and along the offensive line.
