A winter wonder-land has been created for North East families.

For a second year running, Northumbrian Water is creating the attraction at Kielder Water from Saturday, December 17 until Friday, December 23.

Children will be able to join elves in an enchanted barn and help make toys while listening to festive tales.

As well as a Santa's grotto, there will be a fairytale procession and Christmas hunts in the woods.

Rachel Taylor, 42, and her husband Paul and three children Alex, 11, Caitlin, nine, and Jonathan, three, were the first to indulge in the fairytale experience last year.

Rachel, of Chesters Park in Low Fell, Gateshead, said: "We went the week before Christmas and stayed in the log cabins.

"It was a great family holiday because the complex was not commercialised at all.

"There was so much for the children to do as they were able to make toys while helping the elves and they also were able to go ice skating. …
