Gus Sells Firms to Tighten Focus

Gus has intensified the focus of its retail division on Argos and Homebase by agreeing to sell a business it has owned for more than 40 years.

The disposal of Dutch home-shopping operation Wehkamp for pounds 265m follows the end of its ownership of South African retailer Lewis and before the sale of its 66% stake in fashion chain Burberry.

Growth overtakes estimates

ADVERTISING and media group WPP has forecast revenues growth ahead of the rest of the market.

The group, which has almost 91,000 staff and more than 2,000 offices worldwide, said it was on course for like-for-like sales growth of 4% to 5%, against previous estimates of 3% to 4%.
