Newcastle Vipers coach Rob Wilson says he will continue to be patient in his search to recruit new talent, (writes Lee Ryder).

Wilson wants to add a centreman to his roster this season despite the club's cracking start to life in the Elite League.

The Canadian sustained a blow earlier in the campaign when his fellow countryman Eric Beaudoin quit the club to join Finnish outfit Jokerit.

He said today: "It has always been an aim to get some new blood in at the club and I have been talking to a lot of guys.

"We have been concentrating on getting a centreman in, which isn't easy.

"There are a lot of teams in the same position as us and it is quite competitive out there.

"I have been looking at getting somebody in since Eric left, but to be fair we have done very well since then.

"That is no reflection on him but shows that everyone else has done extremely well.

"We have stepped up the search but we are not going to make any panic signings, because other teams have done that this year and ended up being unhappy with who they've got in. …
