Brooklyn Breeze can land a blow for the north with victory in the Paddy Power Gold Cup (3.20) at Cheltenham tomorrow.

Len Lungo's Scottish raider is one of the more unexposed types in this competitive event and is taken to release his potential at Prestbury Park.

The eight-year-old, who has won seven of his 13 starts, made a winning seasonal debut in a handicap hurdle at Aintree last month to put him on course for a tilt at the Grade Three chase.

Lungo's gelding went into the lead full of running three fences from home in the Mildmay of Flete at last season's Festival, but was headed approaching the last and finished fourth behind Liberthine as he wilted up the famous Hill.

He subsequently landed a handicap chase at Ayr before having a wind operation during the summer.

Although he competes off a mark of 143, which is higher than when he ran out of gas at the Festival, his fluent jumping and neat turn of foot should redress that balance.

And with the wind operation likely to give him more durability when it comes to tackling the steep Cheltenham incline, Brooklyn Breeze is set fair to pull out all the stops when it matters this time.

Robert Alner's Sir Rembrandt makes a welcome return to the track this weekend and holds all the aces in the Servo Computer Services Trophy Handicap Chase (2.45).

Connections report the gelding, who has been placed in the totesport Gold Cup for the last two seasons, to be in fine form as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing run in the Betfair Bowl Chase at Aintree in April.

That performance - he was pulled up at the 14th flight - was an unfair reflection of the nine-year-old's true ability.

Sir Rembrandt has to give weight all round in what will be his first run in handicap company since finishing second to Bindaree in the Welsh National almost two years ago. …
