GEORGIA TECH

Up next: Wake Forest.

Where: Atlanta.

When: Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

TV: None.

Radio: WSFN (790 AM), Brunswick; WLOP (1370 AM), Jesup; WFNS (1350 AM) Waycross/Blackshear.

Last meeting: Georgia Tech beat Wake Forest 24-7 in 2003.

Story line: The last time these two teams played in Atlanta, Wake Forest upset Georgia Tech 24-21 in 2002. But Tech, which has won its last two games, brings a defense that should be able to keep the Demon Deacons from repeating that feat. Last Saturday, Tech forced four turnovers, including three fumble recoveries against a Clemson offense that had not lost a fumble all season. The Tigers gained 145 yards rushing and 325 total yards, but six trips inside the Tech 35 netted just three field goals.

Story line: This is the last conference game of the season for the Eagles and it is a must-win situation for them. Georgia Southern is sitting a game behind Furman for second place in the Southern Conference standings. Lose and Georgia Southern is all but assured of missing the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. To have a chance to win, the Eagles need to fix a defense that gave up 42 points to South Dakota State because the Paladins are averaging a conference high 39.1 points per game.
