Chronicle reader Anne Nicholson, from Hexham, was nominated for a makeover by her loving daughter Joanne Heron.

Joanne wrote; "My mum needs and deserves a makeover desperately. It started 26 years ago when she gave birth to a beautiful little girl (me). She started to get the skin condition psoriasis, which she got really bad, and she has it all over her body, which makes her very self-conscious so she wears clothes to hide it, even though it is not as bad now as it used to be."

Anne wears a uniform during the day for working at her local Co-op, but in the evening she would like to wear something that isn't black and doesn't take a lot of effort and also makes her feel good about herself.

Anne is due to celebrate her 27th wedding anniversary to hubbie Michael on December 16.

A special evening has been organised and Anne would like a new look and outfit to dazzle her husband.

We started Anne's pamper day at Regis Hair and Beauty Salon in Newcastle's Fenwick store, where she was treated to a colour and cut. As Anne's hair was quite short, nothing too dramatic could be done, however stylist Melissa took the weight out of the hair and added slices of golden brown and light blonde on the tips.

Melissa then finger-dried Anne's hair with wax for a short, funky look. Anne was delighted with the colour and cut and felt it made her look instantly younger.

For the make-up, we took Ann to the Christian Dior counter, also at Fenwick.

Manager Adrienne applied the Skincare Range Capture R60/80, beginning with two drops of serum to smooth the skin ( the secret of a flawless complexion is the base, said Adrienne. A moisturising wrinkle cream followed with Capture R Flash for long-lasting radiance. The base was finished with foundation, eye cream and powder. To enhance Anne's blue eyes a duo of green eye shadow was applied, followed by Dior Show mascara. Adrienne applied Cotton Candy lipstick to Anne's lips and finished the look off with a dusting of Terra Bella Bronzer for radiance. Anne, not used to wearing much make-up, was really pleased with the look.

Next we headed off to Marks & Spencer also in Newcastle for the outfits. …
