There's nothing new-fangled about Arthur and John Fawcett's family butchers.

Blink as you drive through the tiny village of Ingleby Greenhow and you will miss their shop next to the pub.

They aren't interested in pulling in customers through a zippy website.

And Arthur sets off daily around North Yorkshire in the mobile shop ( without a mobile phone.

"Can't be doing with things like that," he laughs. "Email? Not that either."

What he does do better than almost anyone is sell the best, locally-produced meat and prize-winning sausage. Fawcetts have just walked off with the first prizes for both their beef and pork sausages in the Northallerton Butchers' Association.

"We make around 200lbs of pork sausage a week ( and double that during the barbecue season," says 52-year-old Arthur.

"And that's the sausage which won first prize. We made nothing special, just the ones we make for customers every day."

And the traditional beef and pork swept the board. …
