Ryan Kerr has got his perfect present ( a handy pay day before Christmas against an opponent who shouldn't relieve him of his treasured title and unbeaten record.

The Sunderland scrapper's quickfire defence of his English super middleweight crown is being staged away from home soil in Bracknell on December 16 when James Hearn will be in the opposite corner.

"Ryan wanted another defence before Christmas as his hands stood up well at the Roker Hotel," manager Tommy Conroy told me.

"I've got him a decent pay day with Hearn and Kerr is over the moon.

"We've done our homework and Kerr should win. Hearn has twice fought Simeon Cover ( Ryan's last opponent ( and though he beat him once Cover then stopped him.

"Hearn is game and he can bang a bit like Ryan but I'm convinced my lad will get the decision."

The bulk of Kerr's 13 victorious fights have been on Wearside with a sprinkling in his native Scotland but he's now too costly for Conroy's four-yearly Sporting Club shows which is why he's on his travels. …
