JUDGE OKS WINN-DIXIE MOTION FOR WAREHOUSE

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jerry Funk Thursday approved a motion by Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. to sell a warehouse in Miami for $2.1 million to Commercial Long Trading Inc. The warehouse had been used to hold damaged goods and other inventory that was being returned to vendors. But in a court hearing Thursday, Stephen Busey, an attorney for Winn-Dixie, said the company has consolidated those operations into another warehouse in Jacksonville.

Funk also approved a settlement between Winn-Dixie and three property insurance companies related to claims from the 2004 hurricane season. Winn-Dixie, which has already received $50 million in payments on hurricane-related claims, will received $14.49 million from this settlement.

DRC APPROVES EXEMPTION FOR WACHOVIA SIGNS

Members of the Design Review Committee approved an exemption for new signs to go atop the former SouthTrust building on Thursday.

Wachovia officials requested for the Wachovia emblem and name to go on all four sides of the building, but committee members limited architects to two opposing sides with an option to put the emblem alone on the remaining two.

Committee members also granted final approval to Metropolitan Apartments, an 118-unit office building conversion. Luke Leonaitis of developer Jax Telecom Partners said that the internal conversion of the building had already commenced and that the apartment building should be complete by September 2006.

In a project at 605 W. Beaver St., architects revealed plans for the conversion of a vacant building into an eight-unit loft condominium building with retail space on the ground floor.
