Vaughan Facing England Lay-Off

England captain Michael Vaughan will miss this month's five-match limited-overs series in Pakistan in order to have surgery on his injured knee.

Vaughan left the tour at the conclusion of England's 2-0 Test series defeat on Saturday in the hope of being back home in time to witness the birth of his second child.

The long-standing injury kept him out of the first Test last month and he will now remain in England while Marcus Trescothick takes charge of the one-day side.

The announcement on vaughan was made by the England and Wales Cricket Board today.

Trescothick, meanwhile, is relishing the thrills and spills in prospect for England's one-day series against Pakistan ( but admits he is still coming to terms with the intricacies of new International Cricket Council rules.

Trescothick is sure to lead England in their one-day warm-up match against Pakistan A at Bagh-e-Jinnah tomorrow and also looks set to captain his country again in Saturday's first ODI at the Gaddafi Stadium. …
